The Boxer Club of Victoria is pleased to provide the following Help Services for all Boxers lovers. Some services are free...others require a small charge to cover costs.

1. Abandoned Dogs and Lost and Found
  1. Find a new owner for Boxers that have been abandoned into one of the various shelters or Pounds. If you know of an abandanded Boxer or are involved with a shelter or pound please fill out the ABANDONED DOGS FORM and submit it to the BAOV.

  2. Reunite a Boxer that has been lost or found, with his owners.

Please fill in the details on our LOST AND FOUND FORM and send it to
    the address on the form.

  3. The above information will be posted onto our website at no cost.

2. Rehoming Service

Unfortunately sometimes people find themselves in situations, whereby they can no longer keep their Boxer, and call us hoping we may find them a new home, therefore we offer the following....

1. If you no longer feel you can keep your Boxer we can place your details on the website and anyone looking for a Boxer can contact you directly.

These Boxers are to be placed "Free to a Good Home" and no monetary exchange is to be made between the parties - except for the price of speying an un-speyed female!

Please report any misuse of this service to (03) 9846 5868!

A small donation would be appreciated to cover the cost of placing it on the site and any phone calls that need to be made. A photo can be included if required. Cheques to be sent to The Secetary, BAOV, PO Box 5050 Laburnum 3130.

For the above service please fill in our BOXER REHOMING FORM

2. You are looking for a MATURE Boxer and have exhausted all possibilities of finding one that suits. We will place your name on the site for a period of one month and anyone looking to rehome an adult Boxer will be able to contact you directly.

For the above service please fill in our ADOPT a BOXER FORM

NB: The Boxer Association of Victoria takes no responsibility or liability for dogs or information obtained from these advertisements. We also reserve the right to refuse any person and or dog.

NEEDS OF A BOXER

A BOXER is a wonderful medium sized family dog.  He/she will be a great companion and friend to you and your children.  He is an active dog and WILL NEED VERY STRICT TRAINING for the first year of his life. This will require one training session a week for you and your family and 10 minutes a day reinforcement training. If you don't have the time for this training then do not get a Boxer!

He will enthusiastically welcome most people you invite into your home but can be very reserved if he feels distrustful of certain individuals. Therefore he will make an excellent watch dog, his looks and barking will scare off any intruder, although little do they know that he is a "pussy cat" at heart!

He can be stubborn and aggravating then turn around and delight and entertain you with his playful antics and exuberance for life. He will play gently with the young children, rough-house with the adults, then stand over you as if to say "come on you guys, I am just getting started".   You can hurt his feelings easily by the tone of your voice or by ignoring him.   Love him and your love will be returned ten fold.  Anyone who does not love a BOXER does not know a BOXER.

The BOXER is definitely NOT an "outdoor" breed!  If he would not be allowed to live in the house as part of your family you would be better to choose another more independent breed!  A BOXER does not have the coat needed for the cold winter and because of their shorter muzzle, they do not tolerate the heat of summer.   They must be protected from the elements, always. Besides, they would be broken hearted if they couldn't be with their people - sharing the sofa or easy chair and your nibbles, as you all watch TV in the evening.

Fawn Male
2-3 years
Neutered

We are very sad to rehouse a family pet, but due to work committements we are no longer have the time this beautiful boxer needs. We have had him since a pup and has been a great friend to myself and my 6 & 8 year old children.

He loves going in the car and being with you as he thinks he is human. Good loving home only.

Brindle Male
6 years

Neutered
Injections current
Wormed (including annual heartworm vaccination).

Tyson is our beautiful, gentle and much loved 6 year old boxer, and it's with much sadness and regret that we are seeking a new home for him. A change of living arrangements that leaves us with no back yard is the only reason for our heartbreaking decision. Tyson loves company and is wonderful with children. Our son learnt to walk hanging onto Tyson's neck! He is very social, an excellent walker (both on and off lead) and is extremely obedient. He is intelligent and has a sensitive nature.

We moved to Queensland 2 years ago and Tyson traveled via air extremely well and settled immediately. My parents still live in Geelong, Victoria and we are happy to have him "holiday" at his grandparents whilst a new home is sought, but if a home is available in Queensland it would be great.

Urgent homes are required for the above dogs!

(NB: NO PUPPIES are to be sold through this resource!!)

Note to reliquishing owners: Please ensure that the person you are dealing with is a genuine Boxer lover and has the right conditions required to keep your dog happy and healthy.
  1. Ask them the questions on our Adopt a Boxer Form to help get to know the new prospective owner.
  2. Do not just have the person view the dog at your home, but insist that you visit their home and take the dog with you to see how it behaves in this new environment (children, other pets etc) and how the new prospective owner relates to the dog.
  3. Let them know the diet the dog has been kept on to avoid tummy upsets.
By taking these extra precautions you will help guarantee that this will be the last "Forever" home for your Boxer and he will be happy.
